Our specialization lies in conducting Sensory Assessments for children, young adults, and adults. These assessments are conducted with the assistance of parents, carers, teachers, and support staff. Our primary goal is to deliver premium professional services of world-class standards. Our comprehensive assessment and treatment plans are designed to assist individuals in leading normal lives within the community.
Occupational therapy helps people with disabilities or illnesses function better by using physical, psychological and recreational activities to help them recover and improve their quality of life. Occupational Therapy can help children and adults with motor skills, balance, and self-control. Children with developmental disabilities can learn to adapt to new tasks and be more independent in everyday activities. They can help them achieve their goals by teaching them how to perform activities more efficiently and effectively.
Sensory Integration therapy (or SI interventions) include structured exposure to sensory input, movement therapy, balance treatments, carefully designed and customised physical activities and accommodations(eg, changes to the environment or routine). Sensory Integration Assessment, like all OT Assessment, should consist of the accumulation of information from a range of sources as well as clinical observations, typically a range of alternative tools / methods might be used.
Physiotherapy is a process that deals with the Treatment, Prevention, and Rehabilitation of people who are physically injured or disabled. Physiotherapy uses physical activity to treat human diseases. A physiotherapist, also known as a physical therapist, assists patients in managing pain, balance, mobility, and motor function.
A psychologist is a mental health professional who uses psychological evaluations and talk therapy to help people learn to better cope with life and relationship issues and mental health conditions. Psychologists seek to understand and explain thoughts, emotions, feelings, and behaviour. They use techniques such as observation, assessment, and experimentation to develop theories about the beliefs and feelings that influence individuals.
Speech and language therapist provides treatment, support and care for children and adults who have difficulties with communication, or with eating, drinking, and swallowing. They will help people who, for physical or psychological reasons, have problems speaking and communicating.
Dieticians assess the nutritional needs of individuals, families or groups, create treatment plans to improve nutrition and overall health, give practical and sensitive dietary advice, tailored to people’s needs, monitor people’s progress towards healthy eating targets.
A sensory assessment aids parents, teachers, and clinicians in understanding individuals who struggle with processing sensory information in their environment. Symptoms may include heightened or reduced sensitivity to sound, touch, taste, light, or smells, along with challenges in coordination and spatial awareness. These difficulties can make socializing, engaging in conversations, playing, and other daily activities overwhelming.
Our approach to sensory assessments:
1
Prior to an appointment, a sensory assessment questionnaire is sent to be completed by the service user and their family or care staff.
2
An experienced therapist conducts an interview and observes the individual and their environment.
3
The therapist assesses the individual’s presentation and behaviours, forming the foundation for treatment recommendations.
4
The questionnaire, interview, and observation aid in creating a report on the individual’s sensory processing abilities.
Our Occupational Therapists specialize in Paediatric Occupational Therapy which assesses and treats children with various conditions such as:
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
- Developmental Delays
- Acquired Brain Injury
We offer comprehensive assessment services for children facing these difficulties. Our detailed reports outline their occupational, sensory, and educational challenges, providing practical methods to enhance their functioning. Individualized therapy plans are collaboratively developed to address identified difficulties, aiding families, and therapists in improving the child's day-to-day life.
Currently, we perform home visits in and around the Newbury area, West Berksire.
